Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Sperl is the chairman of the university hospital for paediatric and adolescent medicine and has an excellent reputation for being a clinical expert and researcher in the field of congenital metabolic diseases. The newly built Children's Centre of the State Hospital Salzburg provides top class medical care for children from birth. The centre combines the university clinics for paediatric and adolescent medicine and the affiliated division for neonatology with various specialist fields and also the university clinic for paediatric and adolescent surgery. Furthermore paediatric radiology and paediatric anaesthesia as well as nutrition counselling and parenting classes are affiliated to the children's centre. The close collaboration with specialised outpatient departments located at several university hospitals covers the treatment options of the whole range of diseases which can possibly occur in children and adolescents.
